Manuel Neuer contract extension with Bayern Munich considered to be imminent

According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), a one-year contract extension between Bayern Munich and Manuel Neuer could happen as soon as this week:

Everything has been clarified between Bayern and Manuel Neuer regarding a new one-year contract. All that’s left now is to arrange an announcement date, which could be this week.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg backed up the report from Sport Bild and had additional details:

🚨💥 BREAKING | Manuel Neuer new contract – DONE DEAL ✔️

The 40 y/o legend extends until 2027. Complete agreement reached. Reduced salary – currently estimated at up to €20m gross per year.

The signing is expected to take place, if possible, before the upcoming and final home match of the season against 1. FC Köln on Saturday. Bayern are preparing the announcement. @SkySportDE

The salary reduction is key for the Bavarians and it could signal that Neuer is open to giving Jonas Urbig a bigger split of the games next season — something that should help the development of the young goalkeeper.
