The future of Alessandro Bastoni continues to attract attention across Europe, and now former Italian striker Christian Vieri has weighed in on the growing speculation surrounding the defender and his links to Barcelona.
For several months now, the highly-rated Inter Milan centre-back has been connected with a possible move to the Catalan side.
However, despite the constant rumours, no official negotiations have taken place between the two clubs so far.
Barcelona’s transfer plans have been moving carefully in recent weeks.
This is because questions surrounding Financial Fair Play regulations, combined with rising market prices and uncertainty in the summer window, have forced the club to slow down several operations before making any move.
Even so, Bastoni’s name continues to appear among players admired internally by the Blaugrana hierarchy.
What was said?
Amid the growing talk about the defender’s future, Vieri offered advice to Bastoni while stating that the final decision should come from the player himself.
Speaking about the situation, the Italian legend explained, “Bastoni has to make a decision, using both his heart and his head.

“No one can put themselves in his shoes, and whatever decision he makes will deserve everyone’s respect.
“He has been treated unfairly, and he will make his own assessment,” he began.
The comments come during a difficult period for Bastoni, who has faced criticism in Italy following the struggles of the national team.
Some sections of Italian football have unfairly pointed fingers at several senior players after another disappointing international campaign for the Azzurri.
Despite that criticism, Vieri still views Bastoni as one of the most important figures at Inter Milan.
At the same time, though, he also reminded everyone that football eventually moves on from every player, no matter how important they appear.
“There are no irreplaceable players. Even Messi left Barcelona,” he concluded.
