Fastest IPL team fifties: Which teams reached 50 in the fewest balls?
The fastest team fifty in IPL history came back in 2011, when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) raced to the milestone in just 15 balls (2.3 overs) against Kochi Tuskers Kerala – a franchise which later became defunct.
Since then, several teams have come close, with multiple sides reaching 50 in just 16 deliveries.
The latest 16-ball team fifty came during the IPL 2026. Rajasthan Royals reached the milestone against the Mumbai Indians (MI), powered by a brutal opening assault from the team's opening duo of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashavi Jaiswal.
RR raced to 22 runs in the very first over and blitzed their way to 58/0 in just three overs. It was also a rain-shortened game, with overs reduced to 11 per side.
The quick start in the powerplay also included an exciting matchup between the 15-year-old sensation Suryavanshi and one of the greatest bowlers of the modern era, Jasprit Bumrah. The battle, however, was won by the teenager, who hit a first-ball six off the India great and smashed another maximum in the same over.
