Erling Haaland is leading the way in the Premier League Golden Boot race, despite suffering a winter slump in form.
The Manchester City superstar, who has won this award twice before, got off to an electric start this season, but has just three goals in league play since Christmas. Notably, Haaland went eight matches without an open-play goal before a strike against Fulham on February 11 ended that drought.
While those struggles continued into April, an FA Cup hat-trick against Liverpool saw Haaland back on track ahead of the Premier League season run-in and he netted a vital winning goal against title rivals Arsenal two weeks later, a moment which seemed to truly restart his chase for the Golden Boot, and he netted again in a 1-0 win over Burnley that sent Man City top of the Premier League table.
Mohamed Salah equaled the Premier League record for goal contributions in a single season last campaign, scoring 29 goals to win the Golden Boot while pairing it with 18 assists to put himself in contention for the Ballon d'Or, but he has cratered this season and will leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign.
Brentford's Igor Thiago has established himself as Haaland's main challenger. Igor's five goals in four matches through November saw him named Premier League Player of the Month, and he has kept pace since to establish himself near the top of the goalscoring charts. However, with Haaland starting to score again, Thiago's nightmare performance of missed chances against Man United on April 27 felt like a pivotal moment in the Golden Boot race.
Antoine Semenyo has taken some of the load off Haaland's shoulders since joining City from Bournemouth in January and his strike as Haaland sat out City's 1-0 win over Leeds United on February 28 moved him on to 14 for the season. Joao Pedro moved into fourth with an early March hat-trick against Aston Villa.

Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer saw their record for most goals in a Premier League season shattered by Erling Haaland in 2022/23.
Thierry Henry finished atop the Premier League scoring chart in four different seasons, more than any player all-time until Mohamed Salah equaled his mark in 2024/25. Shearer and Harry Kane follow with three scoring titles each.

Erling Haaland secured his second consecutive Premier League Golden Boot in 2023/24 with 27 goals, despite a mid-season injury. He led Manchester City to another title, finishing five goals ahead of Chelsea's Cole Palmer, who surged with a record-breaking hat-trick.
Isak placed third with 21 goals. Haaland scored against all 22 league opponents and capped City's title with a double against Tottenham.

The City striker had built an insurmountable lead over Harry Kane (30 goals), who previously won the Golden Boot three times. Brentford's Ivan Toney was the other to hit the 20-goal mark, while the previous season's joint-top scorer Salah slowly rose up the ranks to fourth.

Son's two goals at Norwich City on the final day allowed him to momentarily move ahead of Salah in the scoring table. But the Liverpool star came off the bench and netted late to catch Son, as the two stars shared the Golden Boot on 23 goals.
