Iga Swiatek has handled pressure so well throughout her tennis career. However, she seems to be going through a rough patch right now.
Swiatek, a six-time Grand Slam champion, is undoubtedly one of the top players of her generation at the young age of 24. Unfortunately, her 2026 season hasn't started off on a great note. After losing in straight sets to Elena Rybakina during the Australian Open quarterfinals, she was upset by Maria Sakkari at the Qatar Open. She was then eliminated in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells by Elina Svitolina.
Most fans assumed Swiatek would bounce back at the Miami Open, especially since she entered the tournament with an impressive streak of 73 consecutive opening-match wins.
To the surprise of tennis fans around the world, Swiatek was upset by Magda Linette in her opening match in Miami. After falling short in three sets, Swiatek admit that she doesn't feel "good enough" on the court.
"I’m not good enough to have any expectations," Swiatek said, via Tennishead. "Everybody knows I have a game to win tournaments. I just haven’t been showing that. I’m kind of facing things that I never faced because I never felt things that intensely on court. I mean, I did, but I was much younger, and it felt like a normal process. Now it doesn’t."

Swiatek's fans immediately sent her encouraging messages after hearing these post-match remarks.
"It's heartbreaking to hear Iga like this," one fan said. "Iga is a generational talent/ wonder and she IS ENOUGH, always. My wish for her is that she doesn’t push through even harder, but rethinks what she wants from life and who will help her achieve that — for her."
"That’s tough to hear… even the best struggle with self-doubt sometimes," a second fan replied.
"Iga you just need to step back, take a breather and reassess," a third fan wrote. "Trust me you’ll be back stronger."
"She will win 2 grandslams this season stay strong Iga," another fan commented.
Swiatek should bounce back during the clay court season.
The good news for Swiatek is the WTA Tour will shift over to the clay courts once the Miami Open is done. She has legitmately loked unbeatable at times on that surface.
If Swiatek can build some positive momentum before the French Open in May, she'll be one of the favorites heading into that tournament. After all, she won the title at Roland-Garros in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
There's no question Swiatek has the game to win more titles. She just needs to regain her confidence.
