This is the sixth race of this NTT IndyCar Series season, and so far, Alex Palou has been predictably strong, winning three of the first five races and holding a sizable points lead over Kyle Kirkwood despite a 24th-place finish at Phoenix. Palou was fastest in both practice sessions leading up to this race, but qualifying was rained out and won’t happen until Saturday.

Last season, Palou won his third consecutive race at this track, claiming the pole and going on to lead 29 of the 85 laps. His biggest competition was Graham Rahal, who led 49 laps, but Rahal ultimately finished sixth despite pacing the field for so long.

Other former winners of this race who are in the field include Rinus VeeKay and Will Power, while the only other drivers to win it, Simon Pagenaud and Colton Herta, won’t be in the field.
