Mayweather, Pacquiao agree to rematch on Netflix in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — More than a decade after their long-awaited first meeting, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are headed toward another blockbuster showdown.

Ring magazine reported Friday that Mayweather and Pacquiao have agreed to terms on an amended deal for a professional rematch scheduled for Sept. 25 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight is expected to stream on Netflix as the company continues its aggressive push into live sports programming.

The bout had originally been announced for Sept. 19 at Sphere, but the event was moved after financial concerns surrounding the venue.

“We never wanted this at The Sphere,” Manny Pacquiao Promotions CEO Jas Mathur told Ring magazine. “It didn’t make economic sense for this event to be at The Sphere. Ultimately the parties putting the fight together were insistent. Floyd was able to get it out of The Sphere. Bottom line, we’re making more money.”

The move gives Netflix another major Friday night boxing event after the streaming giant previously experimented with Friday fight cards as part of its growing live-event strategy. The company has increasingly invested in sports programming as it looks to expand beyond scripted entertainment.

The rematch would mark the first professional fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao since their historic 2015 bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, a fight billed as the “Fight of the Century.” Mayweather won that fight by unanimous decision in an event that generated more than 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and over $600 million in total revenue, making it one of the richest events in sports history.

Mayweather, now 49, would put his undefeated 50-0 professional record on the line. The former five-division world champion retired officially after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in 2017 but has remained active in exhibition bouts.

Pacquiao, 47, officially retired from professional boxing in 2021 after a legendary career that included world titles in eight weight divisions, a feat unmatched in boxing history. The Filipino icon has remained active in politics and exhibition appearances while continuing to hint at a return to the ring.

While financial details of the rematch were not disclosed, the fight is expected to become one of the biggest combat sports events of 2026. An official announcement is anticipated once final contractual details and broadcast arrangements are completed.

Las Vegas once again will serve as the backdrop for one of boxing’s biggest attractions, with T-Mobile Arena now set to host another major chapter in one of the sport’s defining rivalries.
