Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are expected to be part of the NBA’s return to Europe during the 2026-27 regular season. San Antonio is slated to face the New Orleans Pelicans in two overseas games next January, with matchups planned for Paris, France, and Manchester, England, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Paris game will be another homecoming opportunity for Wembanyama in his native country. The Spurs previously played in Paris during the 2024-25 season, splitting two games against the Indiana Pacers. The upcoming European trip would continue the the league’s international push after the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies played regular-season contests in Berlin and London during the 2025-26 campaign.

Last season’s Europe series featured Orlando earning a 118-111 win in Berlin behind German brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner, while Memphis answered with a 126-109 win in London. Berlin and Paris are reportedly being lined up as potential host cities again for the 2027-28 season.

San Antonio enters the spotlight internationally after a remarkable 2025-26 season. The Spurs finished the regular season with a 62-20 record before eliminating the Portland and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first two rounds of the playoffs. They are now preparing for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.

The Pelicans, meanwhile, limped through a difficult year, finishing 26-56, which tied them for the seventh-worst record in the NBA.
