If you’ve been keeping a close eye on the rising stars in the junior formulas, F1 Academy just gave you a massive reason to tune in for the second half of the season. Series officials announced Monday that 17-year-old Zoe Florescu Potolea has secured the Wild Card entry for Round 4 at Zandvoort. She will drive the No. 15 car, which is operated by Hitech Grand Prix.
Fans will have no trouble spotting her on the track. Florescu’s entry comes with heavy financial backing from Unilever’s “Dirt Is Good” brand. She will wear a custom neon-green race suit. The car livery will match. Even her car number serves as a marketing tie-in. The No. 15 is a direct nod to the sponsor’s 15-minute wash cycle product. You see, sponsorships drive junior motorsport, and this deal guarantees she will stand out visibly on the grid.
Standing Out on the F1 Grid
But don’t mistake the heavy branding for a lack of talent. Florescu earned this opportunity. She currently competes in the highly competitive Spanish F4 Championship. Last year, she grabbed the attention of paddock insiders during the 2025 F1 Academy Rookie Test. Her raw speed turned heads. Consistency backed up that speed. That strong performance directly paved the way for her call-up to the main grid.
Zandvoort is an incredibly unforgiving place to make a debut. The circuit is narrow. The banking is steep and aggressive. There is virtually no run-off area to catch mistakes. A driver has to be precise. One lock-up usually means hitting a wall and ruining the weekend.
But Florescu knows exactly what she is walking into. She addressed the pressure directly in the official announcement. “Every session counts, and you must perform when it matters most. I’m proud to be part of this moment and grateful for the support from Dirt Is Good as I take this next step,” Florescu said via Formula1.com.
F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff echoed that sentiment. “This is a platform where drivers are learning to perform under pressure, supported by the best teams and the right partners around them,” Wolff noted.
A Wild Card entry is basically a fast-tracked audition. Florescu has one weekend to prove she belongs with the full-time championship regulars. If she handles the pressure and tames the Zandvoort banking, she could easily secure a permanent seat for next season.
