2 IndyCar drivers penalized after 2026 Indianapolis 500 qualifying

Two NTT IndyCar Series drivers have been penalized after the qualifying sessions for the 2026 Indianapolis 500. Caio Collet and Jack Harvey’s qualifying times for the 2026 Indianapolis 500 have been disallowed for not using the Dallara-supplied hardware to mount its Energy Management System, the sport announced.

Collet made the Top 12 in qualifying, officially landing in 10th place, while Harvey qualified in 24th place. Now, the two IndyCar drivers will start in 32nd and 33rd place and lose their pit selections. This is a massive development, as everyone else behind them will move up as well.

These issues were found in the post-qualifying technical inspection, putting the drivers in the rear of the field based on entrant points. A.J. Foyt Racing and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing have the speed to compete for a top-10 finish in the 2026 Indianapolis 500, so Collet and Harvey have even more work to do next weekend now.
