
Colorado (16-23) defeated Philadelphia (17-22), 9-7 in 11 innings, on Friday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Former Vol Chase Dollander started for the Rockies and pitched 5.2 innings. He recorded five strikeouts and 89 pitches, including 48 strikes, against 24 batters. Dollander allowed three hits, two runs (two earned) and five walks to the Phillies.
Former Vol Jordan Beck started in left field for Colorado. He went 0-for-4 and recorded one run and one walk.
Friday marked a series opener between the Rockies and Phillies. Game 2 will be contested Saturday at 6:05 p.m. EDT.
Dollander was selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft (No. 9 overall). He played for the Vols from 2022-23 after transferring from Georgia Southern.
Dollander (17-6) appeared in 33 games, including 31 starts, at Tennessee. He recorded 228 strikeouts, one complete game and a .364 ERA in 168 innings pitched during his Tennessee career.
The former Vol earned 2022 Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-America honors. Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2022, while advancing to the 2023 College World Series.
